Children's Ministry at Grace

Here at Grace Church, kids are important.  We look at the children and the youth, not as the Church of tomorrow, but rather they are the church of today.   Scripture beckons us to come as little children.  We are often encouraged to have the faith of a child.  What we hope to do is to partner with our parents  help their children grow in faith.  It is a relationship with the one true God that is most important.  There is no reason to wait for a child to grow up before they start to develop that relationship.

At Grace Church we use an interactive curriculum that will not only engage your students in a fun and playful environment, but help them also engage in better understanding God's love for them.  They will sing, dance, laugh, enjoy creative activities and learn more about what Jesus has done and what that means for them.

Children's Church (252 Basics Large Group)

Approx. 9:30 a.m.  to 10:40 a.m.

Kids are in a constant state of discovery. Think about all the different things they are trying for the first time and what they’re learning every day, even how to make (and keep) friends.

How can we tap into the way kids are naturally wired to discover‚ so they can begin to experience for themselves who God is, how He sees them and how much He loves them?

How can we show them God’s big story and help them discover the active part they can play in this life-long adventure, to be more like Him?

Grace UMC uses 252 BASICS curriculum and resources to engage, challenge, and invite kids to live out their new understanding of how to grow in relationship with God and with others.

..................PROVOKING DISCOVERY in the heart of a child

The Pond - Elementary Sunday School (252 Basics Small Group)

11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Welcome to “The Pond”,  Grace’s Sunday School Program for 1st through 5th Graders

When you see the word “basics” in the title, well, you sort of think foundational, essential, right? That’s what 252 Basics does—it equips kids from first  through fifth grade with basic truths. In fact, when a kid transitions into middle school, we want that child to have experienced and own three basic truths modeled by Jesus in Luke 2:52 (light bulb moment—now you know what the 252 means):

So that’s the foundation, but we do more than teaching three basic ideas. We also take kids into the heart of God’s Big Story.

The story of God reveals the character of God.

That’s why 252 our programming is organized around key Bible stories that help kids discover Jesus and reflect His character to the world around them. On the whole, our 252 Basics invites kids into the Story of God, to show them the character of God, all while helping them internalize the 3 Basic Truths. We also throw in some  illustrations, activities, and graphics to capture their attention and keep it relevant.

What is really great and helps reinforce the lesson and the take away,  is that we use this material during Children’s Church as a Large Group time. Then break into small group for Sunday school.

The Hive - Preschool Sunday School (First Look)

11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Welcome to “The Hive”,  Grace’s Preschool Sunday School Program for 3 year olds through kindergarten.

First impressions are important. Grace’s curriculum give preschool children a first impression of their loving heavenly Father. “First Look” curriculum keeps it simple and fun, repeating one basic truth about God all month long. First Look also helps our children understand worship and introduces them to small group time.

The activities tickle all the senses making mastering the concepts a blast. Crazy fun activities from crafts to large group Bible story and worship time to small group Bible time, it’s all part of the plan to help a child believe three key things by the time they are five years old:

Nursery

We have professional care givers available for both our 9:30am and 11:00am meeting times. During their time in the nursery we begin the spiritual formation by including activities that coincide with what is being taught in The Hive.
