Music at Grace United Methodist Church

Music is a vital part of worship at GRACE United Methodist Church.  There are a total of six music ensembles that support our worship services and other community events throughout the year.  These groups include adult and children’s vocal and handbell choirs and adult instrumental chamber ensembles.  Music ensembles are directed and accompanied by a combination of church staff and volunteers.  Anyone is welcome and encouraged to join a music group. For more information regarding rehearsal schedules, please contact the Director of Music at 457-5329 x231.

THE ALTAR CHOIR sings at most 9:25 a.m. services from September thru May.  They meet weekly on Thursdays from 6-7:15pm for rehearsal and brief time of sharing joys and concerns.  This choir enjoys preparing a variety of music, which may be simple to complex, from praise choruses to gospel to classical.

THE VESPER HANDBELL CHOIR is an advanced choir that rings about 6 times a year for worship and participates in the Kokomo Handbell Festival and other community events.  They meet weekly for rehearsal on Thursdays from 7:30-8:45pm.

Youth and Adults

ELEVEN11 Praise Team leads in worship every Sunday during our contemporary service at 11:11am.  They play a collection of passionate praise and worship with a more contemporary, guitar lead style.  They practice on Sunday mornings at 8:30.  If you are interested in being part of the team please contact Jason Gornto.

THE JOY CHOIR is for children grades K-5.  They learn about the basics of music: rhythm, pitch, musical terms and notation, through singing, playing rhythm instruments and handbells.  They sing or ring for worship 2-3 times a year and they meet occasionally on Sunday evenings, September through May.

A Place Made for Music

The excellent acoustics in the Sanctuary make Grace an ideal place for community concerts.  Grace supports the Fine Arts of Kokomo by providing a home for the Kokomo Youth Symphony's rehearsals, lessons and concerts as well as other organizations.

Grace has 3 keyboard instruments, used regularly for worship:  a Yamaha grand piano, a 42 rank Austin pipe organ and a harpsichord.

In addition our completely up-to-date sound system is perfect for music of any style.

From classical to hard rock, Grace has been the site of many Christian concerts for crowds up to 700+.
